One may ask, what is an editor worth?

In my opinion, my editor is worth more than the words on a printed page. Catherine asked me to reach beyond myself and into the reader's mind. And to give the reader what they were looking for but not expecting.

The best example of this would be the Preface.

If it were not for Catherine's request for a great hook for the beginning, and my wife's suggestion for that hook, the Preface would not have been written.

I have come across several editors before Catherine, but none were willing to get their hands dirty to pick up a raw manuscript of this size and help me mold it into my expression of art. Catherine understood this and encouraged me to tell the best story I could and, most of all, that I wanted to tell.

My writing did not lose its identity under her guidance.
